I Want to Filter My Water, But How TF Am I Supposed to Filter Through the Hundreds of Products Out There?
Seriously, I feel like everywhere I look it’s “gold-standard this” and “purest purification technology that.” I just want to ensure my family and I drink the cleanest, safest water possible. But with so many conflicting opinions out there, how am I supposed to know who to trust?
Thankfully, I found the Oasis water guy. Basically, this guy named Cormac started a platform called Oasis that’s “on a mission to promote transparency in the products we consume and help people live cleaner and healthier lives.” Instead of just talking about how polluted and filled with toxins our water is, this guy does the digging to find out which products align with that mission and actually work.
When I saw the listing for the Sans Water Purifier, I was intrigued for two reasons: because it was one of the highest-rated water filters, and because it actually looked like something I’d want on my countertop. (Most water purifiers as effective as Sans look like industrial eyesores.) And when it comes to the competition, Sans really stands out:

I decided to trust the Oasis guy and order a Sans. Now I’m not just getting 99% effectiveness against contaminants, I’m getting a built-in water quality monitor, Instant Hot feature, and more—and I’m completely obsessed.
Here’s the Full Breakdown on What Sans Removes From Your Water
Because the Oasis app is ~paid~ (although you can do a free trial if you’re curious)… I decided to just put the data into a chart so you could all see the nitty-gritty details of what Sans removes. And there’s a lot that it removes:
Oasis gave Sans a 94/100 for an “excellent” rating on its ability to filter out 14 different categories of harmful and hazardous contaminants. (For context, the Brita Elite Filter got a 7/100 score.) If you do decide to scroll through the app, you’ll see how impressive that Sans score is. Sans costs $499 (although it’s currently on sale for $399), which is definitely pricey. But, with this elite level of water purification, I think it’s worth it.
Sans calls their reverse-osmosis system the “gold standard of water purification…” but when you’re fully tested to NSF standards by independent labs and proven to remove >99% of heavy metals, fluoride, chemicals, and more… I say you get a pass.
The Tech Behind the Purification. Here’s How Sans Does It
After diving deep into the Oasis app posting and Sans’ websites, I feel like I’m an expert, so lemme lay it out for you. Sans utilizes a 5-stage purification process to offer a contaminant-free drinking water quality.
- Sediment Pre-Filter: Removes dirt, silt, and other suspended solids.
- Carbon Filter: The carbon screens out harsh chemicals like chlorine & pesticides.
- Reverse Osmosis Filter: Molecular filtration that does the heavy lifting, removing up to 99% of contaminants.
- VOC Filter: Dense activated carbon absorbs all the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) commonly found in municipal water.
- UV-C Light: Finally, a bacteria-killing UV-C light acts as a final layer of purification.
No wonder it got a near-perfect score on the Oasis app. Sans takes a multi-pronged approach to ensuring you’re drinking the best and cleanest water possible. But that’s not the only reason I love it. First, it’s incredibly sleek and looks simultaneously cool and unobtrusive on my countertop. It also has an Auto-Fill feature, which ensures we always have a full 47 fl. oz. pitcher ready to go.
Probably my favorite feature of Sans is the Instant Hot. I can just dispense ready-to-go water for coffee or tea straight from the unit. (Side note: if you haven’t used purified water for coffee or tea, your mind will explode at the first cup.) Some other bonuses include a self-cleaning tank, a SmartPure TDS sensor that displays water quality in real-time, and filter replacement indicators. (Seriously, Sans does it all.)
Sans Turned Out to Be the Perfect Water Filter Choice I Was Looking For.
In a world where the amount of water purifiers on the market is just as high as the amount of microplastics, forever chemicals, and toxins they claim to protect you from… it’s so nice to know I’m using a one-stop-shop machine that’s scientifically proven to do it all and then some to keep me and my family safe.
If you’re looking for a water filter, I strongly recommend you check out this Oasis app guy. If you’re looking for a water filter that looks as good as it works, I strongly recommend you check out the Sans Water Purifier. With data this impressive, you truly can’t go wrong.
