Snow vs. Colgate: I Tried Two Fancy LED Teeth Whitening Kits. Here’s the One I’ll Keep.

Both Snow and Colgate make these fancy, LED teeth whitening kits. But which one is actually worth buying? I found out.

I ❤️  Snow so much, I convinced them to sponsor this post.

Two Brands. Two LED-Powered Promises. One Smile to Whiten.

When it comes to teeth whitening, I’ve tried everything from Crest strips to overpriced treatments at the dentist. But I’m still on the hunt for the product I can use at home that 1. won’t destroy my enamel and 2. actually works.

So when I saw TikTok ablaze with celebs and influencers alike raving about these LED teeth whitening kits, I knew I wanted to try one out. The million-dollar question, of course: which do I buy? Well, I narrowed it down to two: the dental-care titan Colgate’s Optic White LED Whitening Kit and the TikTok-darling Snow’s DiamondSeries Whitening Kit

A legacy brand like Colgate is obviously going to come with some credibility, but I literally haven’t stopped seeing Snow on my feed. This sleek, modern oral care startup has over 1 million customers, thousands of 5-star reviews, and even an 87% clinical rating on Dental Advisor. Apparently Snow can strengthen your enamel as it whitens your teeth? Kinda wild. So, I decided to do what any indecisive beauty editor would do: I tested them both.

Here’s what I learned.

First, the Brand Backgrounds: Colgate vs. Snow

Colgate is the household name your grandparents trusted—and their grandparents, too. With over 200 years in the game, Colgate is practically synonymous with toothpaste. Their foray into LED whitening is sleek and modern, but it’s still very much rooted in traditional dental care: playing it safe. (Not exactly boundary-pushing.)

If you’ve been on TikTok in the last 5 years, you probably know (or at least have heard the name) Snow. This young and hungry oral care brand literally broke TikTok Shop on their way to $100M+ in sales in just 3 years. Now, they’re praised by some of the world’s biggest celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather and have racked up features in publications like GQ, Elle, Forbes, Vogue, and more… all from staying laser-focused on their core innovation—oral care products that whiten, strengthen, and clean at the same time.

First Impressions and an Overview of the Products

Colgate’s ComfortFit LED Whitening Kit is powered by a 9% hydrogen peroxide gel and boasts a “ComfortFit” device that (allegedly) molds to your mouth. It’s fairly straightforward—just gel + light, with no additional benefits for enamel and no soothing ingredients for sensitivity.

Snow’s kit honestly feels less like a dental appointment and more like a beauty ritual. Snow uses nano-hydroxyapatite, a non-toxic fluoride alternative that remineralizes your teeth to rebuild enamel while you whiten. Plus, the triple-LED mouthpiece has a specific wavelength of blue light that activates the whitening serum faster.

I decided to break down the comparison into three categories to see which kit I’d ultimately end up with: effectiveness, price, and comfort/experience. Here’s what I found.

Effectiveness: Snow

I’m starting with effectiveness and results, because that’s what ultimately matters, right? Let’s start with Colgate’s kit. They say to paint the serum on your teeth and use the mouthpiece for 10 minutes a day for 10 days straight. After 10 days, I did see a noticeable improvement. Although maybe only 2 shades whiter (they claim 6).

After a waiting period, I moved on to Snow’s kit. Snow recommends using the kit for 9-30 minutes a day until you reach your desired whitening level. And let’s just say… it did not take long. I was a full 5+ shades brighter according to the provided shade guide by day 15, nearly doubling the whitening rate of Colgate.

While both products worked, Snow worked a little bit faster. And I swear, my Snow-whitened teeth just looked healthier, like it wasn’t a surface-level shine. Gonna go with Snow in this category, because speed matters.

Price: Colgate

Colgate’s LED whitening kit costs $49.99 and comes with a 2.5mL bottle of their whitening solution for 35 total treatments. Snow’s DiamondSeries whitening kit costs $59 (though you can get it for only $50.15 if you subscribe and save to refills) and comes with 25 total treatments.

While Colgate is slightly more affordable, it’s worth mentioning that you get the added function of enamel-strengthening with Snow’s nano-hydroxyapatite. With Snow, you get way more than just a mouthpiece and gel. You get a Triple-LED device, a self-sanitizing case, a whitening serum, and the peace of mind that you’re not sandblasting your enamel.

Add in the 60-day money-back guarantee and 2-year warranty, and Snow wins on value in my opinion. Strictly speaking, I gotta give this category to Colgate on cost alone.

Comfort/Experience: Snow

Colgate’s over-promised “ComfortFit” design didn’t fit so comfortably, after all. It definitely wasn’t bad, but I guess I was expecting a little bit more from something marketed so strongly. On top of that, I felt that devastating tooth sensitivity after whitening with Colgate (I’m all too familiar thanks to Crest strips).

My experience with Snow wasn’t just pain-free; I could almost feel my teeth become stronger afterward. Snow’s mouthpiece also came with a power cord that plugged right into my phone, which came in handy for scrolling TikTok during the whitening sessions. (Snow also offers a wireless version of their whitening kit.

Snow’s instructions were clear, the gel was mess-free, and the LED light had this gentle glow that made the whole thing feel elevated. Dare I say it fit more comfortably than the “ComfortFit?” I think I dare. Snow wasn’t just oral care, it was self-care.

Final Verdict: Snow Takes the (Dental) Crown

If you just want quick, cheap, and clinical, Colgate will do the job (albeit slowly). But if you want your teeth to actually be healthier, stronger, and more radiant without the tradeoff of sensitivity, Snow is in a league of its own. I know which whitening kit I’ll be using from here on out (and recommending to everyone I know).

Snow doesn’t feel like a teeth whitening kit. It feels like an oral wellness system, disguised as a beauty product. And in a world where everything seems to require a compromise, that feels rare—and worth every cent. It’s worth mentioning Snow offers free shipping on orders $125+, so you might even wanna think about stocking up on their suite of revolutionary dental care products while you’re at it.

I came for the white teeth. I stayed for the zero pain, better value, and vibes. Start your own glow-up now with Snow.
