Something & Nothing’s Botanical-Infused Bevvies Are a Seltzer-Lover’s Dream

Yuzu? Hibiscus and Rose? Your favorite seltzer brand could never.

No Shade on LaCroix, But These Seltzers Are Top-Tier

I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a LaCroix stan. And at this point, I’ve consumed enough Polar, Perrier, Spindrift, Hint, and San Pellegrino that I should probably be a brand ambassador for all of them. Yup, when it comes to water, if it’s carbonated, I’ll drink it.

When I first saw Something & Nothing’s very chic-looking cans, it wasn’t at my local corner store, but rather on an Instagram ad (target customer, reached 🎯). And after scrolling on their website for .5 seconds, I was sold. Seltzer made with natural juices, extracts, and botanicals—in flavors like Cucumber, Yuzu, and Hibiscus and Rose—uh yeah, twist my arm.

What Makes Something & Nothing Stand Out?

Well, when I try a new seltzer brand, there are a few metrics by which I judge it:

  1. Flavor (uniqueness, intensity)
  2. Carbonation (from flat to bubbles-jumping-out-of-the-glass)
  3. Ingredients (natural vs. artificial)
  4. Versatility (as a mixer)
  5. Branding (does it look like something I’d want to drink?)

On all three counts, Something & Nothing hits the mark. First, Something & Nothing snapped on the wacky flavors. They’re all made with real fruit juices and extracts, which means they taste like, well, real fruit. Second, each can strikes the perfect balance of carbonation. Third, each can contains no added sugar or preservatives. Fourth—yup, she’s got range. Whether it’s gin, vodka, or tequila, I’ve yet to made a bad drink with these bad boys as my mixer. And finally, the branding. These cans look like they belong in a graphic design magazine, not a beverage catalogue.

And without further ado, here are Something & Nothing’s best-selling seltzer flavors:

Yuzu

Citrus lovers, this one’s for you. Something & Nothing’s Yuzu Seltzer is a well-balanced, flavorful blend made that champions Yuzu, a unique citrus fruit that originated in East Asia. If you’re not familiar with Yuzu, it has a distinctly tangy flavor like a mix between a lemon, lime, and grapefruit. A single can contains only 44 calories, which seems like a typo on the can considering how much flavor they pack into this delightful flavor. I love mixing it with gin, simple syrup, and a dash of orange bitters for a bright, sassy cocktail.

Cucumber

Do you hear that? That’s the sound of me diving into a turquoise pool on a hot day—which is exactly where Something & Nothing’s Cucumber Seltzer transports me every time I crack open a can. The cucumber taste here is prominent, but doesn’t slap you in the face with a vegetal taste thanks to the grape and lemon juices that round out the flavor. I love mixing a can of Cucumber Seltzer with a shot of vodka and lime juice for a refreshing sugar-free cocktail (and a low-cal one at that, with no added sugar and only 41 calories a can).

Hibiscus & Rose

I definitely saved the best for last. The Hibiscus & Rose Seltzer was inspired by a drink the founders first had in Sri Lanka—a slightly sour, floral, and totally refreshing blend that’s quite literally unlike any seltzer that I’ve ever tried before. At 57 calories a can, it pairs beautifully with tequila, mint, and agave. Not gonna lie, I’ve impressed more than a few people with my “cocktail-making skills” when I use this flavor as the base of a drink.

If You’re a Seltzer-Lover, You Need to Try Something & Nothing

It seems like there’s a new canned drink on the market every single day, and it can be hard to know what’s worth it and what’s not. Well, friends, I can tell you that as a self-proclaimed beverage expert, I can vouch: Something & Nothing’s seltzers slap. Only one way to find out for yourself…head to their website to try a Taster Pack and see what I’m fussing about.
