Soft Services, Even Softer Skin

There are two types of people in this world: those who love bar soap and those who despise it. As long as you don’t mind your bar soap becoming slimy and gunky when it sits, I don’t mind you using it over a body wash. However, I don’t like that it gets so small that it’s difficult to use. In addition, many soaps leave my skin feeling stripped and dry after I’ve finished showering.

When it comes to the rules, however, there are always exceptions (especially when they’re made up). Soft Services Buffing Bar is the bar soap of choice. I was initially drawn in by the bar soap’s cobalt blue color and recyclable paper packaging, but it was the list of ingredients that sealed the deal for me.

For physical exfoliation, it contains magnesium oxide crystals, which are encased in a blend of moisturizing ingredients like glycerin, shea butter, and aloe vera.

Soft Services recommends using the bar once a week for those with keratosis pilaris (KP), ingrown hairs, or rough, uneven texture. When you consider how long bar soap lasts, the Buffing Bar’s $28 price tag is a steal. Longer than a body wash bottle, at the very least.

Treating My Keratosis Pilaris and Uneven Texture

My skin was an afterthought. I moisturized and shaved weekly after a shower. Accutane treatment in my early twenties made me less body-conscious. Now that my skin was clear, I could relax. That is, until I Googled the small bumps on my arms and, occasionally, legs. KP caused the symptoms most likely. Keratin buildup is harmless.

I was determined to fix it. I improved my exfoliation with a dry brush and body scrub. after a shower for 20 minutes. To smooth things out, I used Biologique Recherche’s Lotion P50 for the body. Here comes Soft Services Buffing Bar. The manufacturer recommends once-a-week shower use. I increased the frequency to twice a week because I was overly confident in my skin. The results were impressive.

What Does the Buffing Bar Feel Like?

Using the Buffing Bar is like using pumice stone and soap at the same time. As soon as the skin is wet, buffing motions produce a tiny amount of foam. Like dry brushing or using a body mitt in the shower, the sensation is familiar to those who are obsessed with exfoliation. The layer of product, on the other hand, makes it more comfortable (and more effective).

So… What’s In The Buffing Bar?

When it comes to ingredients, Soft Services knows what’s up:

  • Sodium Palmate

Palm oil’s fatty acids are saponified with sodium hydroxide to produce sodium palmate, which is the first ingredient in most bar soaps. Because of its softness, it’s ideal for use as a toilet bowl cleaner.

  • Magnesium Oxide

Magnesium oxide crystals have been refined to the perfect exfoliation size, making them the standout ingredient when it comes to ingredients with immediate results.

  • Butyrospermum Parkii

It’s a plant from the Butyrospermum Parkii family. A natural moisturizer known as shea butter regenerates and soothes the skin while protecting it from external factors. Antioxidants abound in it as well.

Thoughtful Packaging at A Great Price

The packaging of all Soft Services products is the unheralded hero. Everything is considered, and nothing is thrown away. Branded papers are used to wrap the Buffing Bar in a paper box, which is then placed in the mail. Once it’s in the shower, the bar won’t budge.

It’s amusing to think of a bar of soap as a valuable commodity. However, this is the case. There’s no way to properly recycle plastic, and when a bottle of soap lasts longer than I do, I call that cause for concern. With the Soft Services Buffing Bar, you get the product, wrapped in paper—that’s all there is to it. Because of that, the Buffing Bar is an excellent choice financially and environmentally.

The Bottom Line

Soft Service’s Buffing Bar is an example of cutting-edge innovation in the field of skincare. It looks good, it feels good, and most importantly, it works. Everything about it is well-thought-out and simple to understand. With this product, you’ll have to reevaluate your assumptions about physical exfoliation.
